Our Roots

Founded in 2017 by Nehemiah D. Frank—a descendant of Tulsa Race Massacre survivors—BWST began as a response to biased local reporting that failed to reflect the truth of Black life in Oklahoma.

Our name honors the resilience of Black Wall Street, once a thriving epicenter of Black excellence before it was violently destroyed in 1921. That history lives in us—and pushes us forward.
